Second Shift Production Supervisor
Winder, Georgia

The Second Shift Production Supervisor manages the production activities within their department and is responsible for overall performance of the manufacturing cell including quality, cost, delivery, safety, continuous improvement, and training by managing the following:

  • Production schedule.
  • Delivery performance.
  • Resource planning and allocation of work flow.
  • Resource utilization.
  • Quality improvement.
  • Safety improvement.
  • Productivity improvement and scrap reduction of their production cell as well as leading, supervising, and coaching lead hands and members of the production teams within their cell.

The Supervisor’s role and responsibilities are:

  • Being the owner of the department.
  • Improving the department - targeting 50% of supervisor time on improvement.
  • Efficiency and utilization (i.e., productivity) of the department.
  • Quality of the products built and effective resolution of quality issues.
  • Resolving quality issues using the problem solving methods to identify problem root cause and implementing corrective and preventative measures to ensure the problem does not re-occur.
  • Utilizing, as necessary, functional support departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Safety including identification and resolution of safety issues.
  • Ensuring work instructions, procedures, and policies are followed.
  • Process and product flow through the cells and the improvement of the process.
  • Motivating cell members through involvement, communication, and positive reinforcement.
  • Provide employees with feedback through formal and informal performance evaluations.
  • Monitoring attendance and taking disciplinary steps as required up to the termination.
  • Dealing with conflict and interpersonal issues in a calm, controlled, and professional manner.
  • Manpower planning and effective staffing, including selecting operators, lead hands and master crafters.
  • Ensuring effective training and cross training.
  • Mentoring and developing lead hands so that they can manage the hour-by-hour manufacturing operation.
  • Driving continuous improvement within the cells to achieve on-going improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
  • Being the main driving force behind 5S and process improvement within the cells.
  • Using Lean Manufacturing and other techniques to improve cell performance.
  • Educating cell members in application of Lean thinking and Lean tools.
  • Representing the department, as necessary, at meetings, briefings, etc.
  • Ensuring the department organization and cleanliness is maintained to world-class levels.
  • Ensuring daily shop clean-up actions are performed effectively and required daily machine preventative maintenance actions are carried out as required.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills in multi-cultural environment.
  • Minimum of two to three years of supervision with a proven track record in a high-volume, multi-product manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional leadership skills accompanied by a sense of urgency.
  • Comfortable in a team-oriented environment where success of the company is of paramount importance.
  • Ability to achieve desired results by motivating associates to want to meet goals.
  • Trained and experienced in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong initiative and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Thrives in a work environment where teamwork, accountability, and innovative thinking are highly valued.

The position of Bill of Materials Specialist offers exciting opportunities in the manual creation of Bills of Materials. We are looking for an individual who is technically inclined, energetic, productive, and can handle multiple priorities in a timely fashion with a high level of accuracy.  

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • A strong understanding of Bills of Materials.
  • Previous experience in sheet metal manufacturing.
  • An understanding of basic manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with reading manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to read product drawings.
  • Commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Experience with MS Office suite.
  • Experience with basic CAD is preferred.
