How do I get the software I need?

Software can be ordered from M/A-Com at 1-800-368-3277.

Average price for software is about $250 per radio.

Why do you not sell the software... ?

We do not write any software, so due to copyright laws we can not supply the required M/A-Com Software.

What radios will the P96A program... ?

The P96A will program all radios listed on this page, (Same as the TQ3370)- Ericsson's most widely used programmer.

Can the P96A program the older radios such as the Delta and Ranger... ?

The Delta and Ranger require a different type of programmer, which is micro processor based, and with the demand not being very high, we do not produce such a programmer at this time.

List the advantage of the P96A over the TQ3370 from M/A-Com... ?

Good question, the reason we developed the P96A was two fold, first the TQ3370 has no indicator LED's, so if you try to program a radio and it doesn't work, you have no clue as to why or what the problem might be. (Example- does the S-825 Control head supply power to the program box?  No, it doesn't, so if you try to program one, you will have to plug in the AC transformer to provide additional voltage for programming.  This is not easy to do in the parking lot of a business.)  Further more, the TQ3370 does not give you any visual indication that you need the AC transformer. With the P96A, you have a power LED that blinks if you have power from the radio, if not, you simple flip on the switch, and use the internal 9V battery. We have also included a LED to indicate if Flash voltage is on, and two LED's to indicate radio and PC data, so you can see what is going on when programming.

Second, the TQ3370 is expensive, ($200.00), and it is packaged in a fairly large steel box.  Not a real handy package to carry around in your PC bag.  Our P96A, (priced at $145.00) is packaged in a small plastic box, with internal battery so an AC transformer it never needed.

Why was the Orion programming cable developed, and what are the advantages of it... ?

The Orion programming cable was developed as a low cost alternative to program the Orion.  The Orion will talk directly to a PC if you have the correct hook up.  With M/A-Com's set up, you need a $200 program box, and a $180 cable.  So instead of spending $380  to program an Orion, we developed the R35, which will program all versions of the Orion, (front mount, dual control, dual radio, etc.)  The R35 sells for just $65, so it is a real cost savings to you.

Tell me more about the P22A programmer for FMD's...?

The FMD P22A programming hood is built inside a heavy duty, industry standard DB-25 hood, and we have enclosed the circuitry needed inside the hood to program the FMD's. Hooking up our P22A programming hood to program a FMD has never been easier. No program box is needed ... just a PC, the Ericsson Software and the P22A FMD Programming Hood.

No external power required, simple DB25 connection to the radio, that fits in the palm of your hand, makes for a convenient way to program the FMD.
