CNC Programmer

Price Industries is currently seeking a CNC Programmer.

Price Industries, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of Air Distribution Products for the HVAC industry is looking for new talent in our growing US office and manufacturing facility. The main function of the CNC Programmer is to translate 2D mechanical drawings into programs to run a sheet metal turret press. Job responsibilities will include creating programs and building prototypes of designs. Employee will also be responsible for improving material utilization and reduce processing time (both by software efforts and by setup and/or changeover reductions) on current products.

Key Tasks:

  • New product introduction
  • Create CNC programs for all new products
  • Build prototypes of new product designs and verify assembly is acceptable
  • Notify Winnipeg of changes and ensure drawings are updated
  • Update CNC programs for all Engineering Changes
  • Verify changes assemble smoothly and notify Winnipeg if adjustments were made
  • CNC’s: Ownership of maintenance, training, and tooling
  •  Implement regular checks of tool wear on all CNC’s
  • Assist in troubleshooting machinery issues
  • Train operators on tool setup, troubleshooting
  • Upkeep CNC tooling inventory
  • Track actual machine utilization: develop and implement ideas to improve CNC machine utilization
  • Improve CNC material utilization > 85%
  • Develop and implement methods to measure scrap rates
  • Implement changes to improve scrap rate
  • Develop and implement ideas to improve management of filler parts
  • Assist production as needed in troubleshooting manufacturing issues: Be very responsive to operator concerns. Help train operators on reading blueprints to reduce reliance on outside help.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to create and modify CAD drawings (AutoCad preferred).
  • Ability to learn new software (this job will require learning special CAM software specific to these machines).
  • Ability to work with assembly operators on building prototypes. Communicate well with operators and design team on issues.
  • Sense of urgency. This is a job tied closely to production, requiring quick implementation of new product designs and changes to existing designs.
  • Strong problem solving skills. Ability to investigate an issue and determine best course of action.
